A MITIGATION PLANNING UPDATE
Fairfield County, along with several other Ohio Counties, has a Mitigation Plan that will soon expire.  A CORE group of individuals from various agencies and organizations has been formed and is prepared to start work on the new plan.  An application for a FEMA grant to fund the rewrite of the Fairfield County Mitigation Plan was completed in July of 2009. The grant has been approved by FEMA Region Four in Chicago.

UPDATE: According to the National Emergency Management Association, the supplemental funding for the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) has cleared the Senate Appropriations Committee but awaits action on the Senate floor and then Conference Committee with the House. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill by Memorial Day, but estimates of action by the Conference Committee range from July 4 to August. FEMA is projecting that the funds in the DRF will be entirely depleted in June.

So hopefully in August we should be able to start on the new Mitigation Plan for 2011.
